Icons are a very significant aspect of any app or website, as they're usually one of the first things that users or visitors get to see, and we all know that the first impression is undeniably important.
Iconion's main advantage is that it comes packed with numerous preset templates of icons that you can load and then fully customize to your liking. For example, you can choose an icon representing a light bulb, then change its color, orientation, transparency, background, and so on. Gradients, shadows, and borders can also be applied to an icon. Iconion is surprisingly powerful and thorough considering that it's also really straightforward and easy-to-use. Its main interface shows all options and features on the same main window, without any additional menus or windows.
I also like a lot about this cool app the fact that it will save the edited icon in various standard sizes, including 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 128 or 256 bits, or to custom dimensions, and not only to PNG but also to JPG, ICO or BMP files.
As for downsides, some icon customization “styles” are restricted in the free version. Anyway, a more important matter is probably the fact that it doesn’t let you work with icons imported from your own files, but only with the provided icon templates. This means that you can’t create an icon from scratch, but you can only thoroughly modify the existing presets (the icon fonts). Considering these flaws, Iconion's price also seems a bit too high.
Anyway, to sum it all up, despite the aforementioned drawbacks, Iconion remains an undeniably handy solution to create great-looking icons, and I recommend you give it at least a try.
